Izzy’s Legacy to Host 4th Annual Vineyard Gala, Honoring Isabella’s Life and Turning Grief Into Hope

“The Vine That Binds Us” will bring the community together for an evening of remembrance, compassion, and purpose while celebrating the launch of a powerful new book about grief and healing.

ATCO, NJ — What began as one family’s heartbreaking journey has blossomed into a mission of hope, healing, and life-changing advocacy. On Saturday, October 24, 2026, Izzy’s Legacy will host its 4th Annual Family Vineyard Gala, “The Vine That Binds Us,” at Amalthea Cellars in Atco, New Jersey, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Under the theme “Rooted in Love. Growing a Legacy,” the evening will bring together families, supporters, community leaders, and advocates for a meaningful celebration honoring the life of Isabella, affectionately known as Izzy, whose brief but impactful journey continues to inspire efforts to save lives and support families facing cancer.

Set against the beautiful backdrop of Amalthea Cellars’ vineyards, the annual gathering represents far more than a traditional fundraising gala. It is an opportunity to celebrate resilience, remember loved ones, strengthen community connections, and turn personal tragedy into lasting purpose.

A Mother’s Love Becomes a Lifesaving Mission

The story behind Izzy’s Legacy began in 2007, when Marilyn Morales’ youngest daughter, Isabella, was diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML), a rare form of childhood leukemia, at just seven months old.

For Isabella, a bone marrow or stem cell transplant offered the only potential cure. However, the family’s search for a compatible donor revealed a troubling reality: the lack of diversity and representation within the national stem cell and bone marrow donor registry.

Despite the family’s efforts, none of Isabella’s relatives were compatible matches. Although a matching donor was eventually found, Isabella tragically passed away from complications six months later.

While Isabella’s life was brief, the lessons she left behind became the foundation for a mission that continues to impact families today.

Through Izzy’s Legacy, Morales and her supporters have transformed their grief into advocacy, working to increase awareness about stem cell and bone marrow donation, encourage greater participation among underrepresented communities, and provide financial assistance to individuals and families navigating cancer.

The nonprofit is committed to helping create a more inclusive and equitable healthcare system, recognizing that increased diversity within donor registries can provide greater opportunities for patients searching for potentially lifesaving matches.

The organization’s work also acknowledges the emotional and financial challenges families face during a cancer journey, offering compassion and meaningful support when it is needed most.

An Evening Where Every Ticket Makes a Difference

This year’s gala invites attendees to become part of that continuing mission.

Proceeds from the event will support Izzy’s Legacy’s initiatives, including education and awareness surrounding stem cell and bone marrow donation, increasing diverse representation within the donor registry, and providing financial and emotional support to families impacted by cancer.

Beyond fundraising, the gala serves as a reminder that communities can come together to create meaningful change, even in the aftermath of unimaginable loss.

Through shared stories, remembrance, and fellowship, “The Vine That Binds Us” seeks to demonstrate that love does not end with loss. Instead, it can grow into a legacy that touches countless lives.

“Please Don’t Say That”: Turning Grief Into Understanding

One of the evening’s special highlights will be the official launch of “Please Don’t Say That,” a powerful anthology designed to transform how individuals understand, communicate with, and support people experiencing grief.

The project began as a guide created by Marilyn Morales to help people navigate one of life’s most difficult challenges: knowing what to say, what not to say, and how to remain present when someone is grieving.

Now, that original vision is expanding into a collection of deeply personal stories from individuals who have experienced loss and are choosing to turn their pain into purpose.

The anthology explores how seemingly harmless statements, even when spoken with good intentions, can unintentionally deepen the pain of someone who is grieving.

Expressions such as “They’re in a better place,” “Everything happens for a reason,” or “You’ll get over it” may be intended to provide comfort, but they can leave grieving individuals feeling misunderstood, dismissed, or isolated.

Rather than criticizing those who struggle to find the right words, “Please Don’t Say That” encourages greater compassion, emotional awareness, and understanding.

“This isn’t about saying the perfect thing. It is about learning how to stay—with pain, with love, and with grief,” the project’s message emphasizes.

Through firsthand experiences and lessons learned, the anthology seeks to help readers understand that genuine support often comes not from having all the answers, but from being willing to listen, acknowledge someone’s pain, and remain present through difficult moments.

The project also invites contributors to share the stories of loved ones they have lost, along with the experiences that shaped their understanding of grief, creating opportunities for healing while helping others become more thoughtful and compassionate supporters.

In many ways, the book reflects the very foundation upon which Izzy’s Legacy was built: the belief that even the most painful experiences can become sources of hope, education, and positive change.

Growing a Legacy of Love, Compassion, and Hope

As Izzy’s Legacy prepares for its fourth annual vineyard gala, the organization’s message remains rooted in the lessons learned through Isabella’s life.

Her story continues to highlight the importance of donor diversity, the urgent need for greater awareness surrounding childhood cancers, and the power of community support for families facing extraordinary challenges.

The launch of “Please Don’t Say That” adds another dimension to that mission, extending the organization’s message beyond medical advocacy to address the emotional realities of grief and loss.

Together, these efforts reflect a shared purpose: ensuring that families facing cancer and those navigating the pain of losing someone they love know they are not alone.

On October 24, the vineyards of Amalthea Cellars will provide the setting for an evening where remembrance meets celebration, compassion inspires action, and one little girl’s legacy continues to grow.

For Morales and the Izzy’s Legacy community, the mission is about more than remembering Isabella. It is about honoring her life through the lives that can still be touched, supported, and potentially saved.

Because the strongest legacies are not simply remembered—they continue to make a difference.
