IJB University Celebrates Grand Opening and Launch of Green Workforce Training Program in Camden

Camden, NJ – June 20, 2025 — In a powerful step toward building a cleaner, more sustainable future for Camden, IJB University officially opened its doors on Friday afternoon, launching its Solar & Trades Green Workforce Training Program. Sponsored in collaboration with Rowan University’s Green Jobs Academy and Exelon Corporation, the event brought together educators, corporate leaders, community partners, and residents with a shared vision of preparing Camden’s workforce for careers in the booming green economy.

Held at IJB University’s newly renovated facility at 223 Market Street, the event welcomed guests to an engaging afternoon of ceremony and collaboration. The program opened with remarks from key stakeholders, including representatives from Rowan University Green Jobs Academy, Exelon corporate leadership, IJB University, and several local workforce and community advocates. Each speaker emphasized the urgency and opportunity of investing in green energy and workforce development — particularly for historically underserved communities.

This program is about more than jobs; It’s about giving Camden residents access to the tools and training they need to thrive in the sustainable economy of the future.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official launch of the program, followed by a guided tour of the training facility. Guests were treated to hands-on demonstrations showcasing solar technology, energy-efficient construction practices, and other components of the curriculum. The event concluded with a networking reception and lunch, giving attendees a chance to connect and explore partnership opportunities.

The Solar & Trades Green Workforce Training Program is designed to equip Camden residents with industry-relevant skills in solar energy, green construction, and sustainable technologies. The program aims to bridge the gap between economic opportunity and environmental responsibility, while creating a pipeline of qualified professionals for New Jersey’s growing clean energy sector.

With support from Rowan University and Exelon, IJB University’s initiative stands as a model for how academic, corporate, and community collaboration can uplift cities like Camden through innovative, future-forward training.
